Inspiration Contagion

"She spins and she sways to whatever song plays, without a care in the world. And I'm sitting here wearing the weight of the world on my shoulders."

Real life is difficult to escape. You get up in the morning, pull on your work clothes, pack a lunch and head out the door. Then, you're met with traffic because somebody bumped into somebody and both decided it would be best to "settle" this in the middle of the street instead of pulling over to the side. You arrive at work 5 minutes late and flustered. There's already a voicemail waiting for you, half a dozen e-mails asking, "Has this been done?" And then you remember: You left the lunch you packed at home. Life kinda goes like that.

Dancers, remember: It is easy to lose oneself.

Sometimes, the lessons we have to learn aren't peaceful. They are more like a smack to the face. One of these lessons to understand is that with beautiful things comes responsibility and thunderstorms.

Just Show Up

“For me, sick days are out of the question. I like to think the show won’t go on without me. The harsh truth, though, is that I don’t take sick days because I know it will.”

We’ve always told our students: Just show up.

Whether it is showing up to a dance class, a social gathering, a friend’s birthday party, a wedding, dinner, an interview... just show up.
